Our trip to Mio in February 14-16 2003 was a fun one! We arrived in Mio on Friday night, to the bitter cold cabin, and immediately turned on the heat! Went to Glens Grocery Store to buy food for the weekend, and returned to the ICY COLD cabin! We did not stay up too late this night, since we were a bit chilly, actually it was so cold that the kids slept with their coats, hats and gloves on.. and it was STILL cold! haha We expected to wake up the following morning being warm and toasty, but it was still freezing... we realized after breakfast that the blower part of the heater was not plugged in! (DUH!!) Plugging it in made quite a difference, but the cabin didn't reach 60 degrees until we were packing up to leave on Sunday. Saturday we went out and rented some cross country ski's from Hinchman Acres and had a lovely day of skiing in the woods and along the Au Sable river! Timmy had the most trouble on ski's, he fell probably 100 times! Some of those times, were due, in part at least, to Devin poking Timmy's ski with his pole, causing him to trip. Everyone braved the big hill at the end of the trail, except me (there were like 10 people watching by the time it was 'my turn' and I was feeling a bit intimidated!) Shaun had about three falls down the hill, Michelle and Timmy I believe fell twice and Devin is the only person I saw make it all the way down before falling! Sunday we went to the sledding hill that we go to every year, which had a ton of snowmobile riders .. I don't know where they all came from, generally we have the hill all to ourselves. There were some dangerous stunts performed on the hills.. the worst being, Devin coming down a hill with a bump at the end and flying over Timmy, Shaun, and Michelle, all of which were all lying down in front of the bump! Luckily, Devin cleared them with no problems!! All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good trip! I should have pictures developed soon, hopefully some good action shots of the sledding!
